It’s no secret that waiting for a hearing decision can be a long process. Administrative Law Judges are often back-logged with cases, and the judge may have to wait for further medical evidence before making a decision. The complexity of your case can also contribute to a longer wait time.

Here are some things you can do to help your case while you are waiting for disability:

  • Continue taking prescribed medication, follow all medical advice from your doctor, and attend your doctor appointments.
  • If you have any new medical evidence, such as x-rays or lab results, make sure you give a copy to the ODAR/hearing office.
  • If you have a change of address, report it to the ODAR office right away.

Doing these small things will help prove your need for disability, and will provide the ODAR office with as much information as possible to decide your case.
